ABOUT CONCORDE BLINDS

A family business in every sense of the words.

The very early stages of being involved in the Blinds industry started in 1968 when Peter opened a Venetian blind manufacturing business in Burnt Oak which lead to subsequent factories in Harlesden and eventually Luton.

In 1975 Peter’s daughter Julie got involved in the Blinds industry by opening a market stall in Luton selling Roller Blind kits and making made to measure roller blinds. This progressed to opening their first retail shop in Chapel Street, Luton and expanded the market stall business to surrounding areas.

With the growth of the business Peter and Julie took on a large unit in 1977 at Elstow Storage Depot in Bedford with the vision of being an all in one manufacturer of all blinds and window coverings. This was the first time the name Concorde was associated with the business.

Today, Julie alongside Peter’s grandsons Liam and Kieren run the business together and maintain the same key values that Peter and Julie started out with. Concorde Blinds is a family run business and like to keep it that way to ensure that our customers receive a personal experience every time.

The history of Concorde Blinds

About Us

Concorde is born

When the Concorde Blind and Curtain Company was formed we set one immovable goal – to consistently provide the very best in products and services. The aim was to combine high quality products with knowledgeable staff and unrivalled customer service.

This is when Peter and Julie, with their shop already in Luton, took on a unit on a larger unit Elstow storage depot and started to manufacture Roller, Pleated, Venetian and Vertical blinds.

10 years young

Having established the Concorde brand locally, we celebrated 10 years in business. The vision had progressed with new products available and being developed in our expanding factory. Becoming well respected locally for our products and expertise in the market.

Concorde had now moved manufacturing from Elstow to Kempston to a larger purpose built factory and showroom unit, perfect to continue the growth of the business.

In this first 10 years Concorde also welcomed the arrival of Julie’s 2 sons, potentially the next generation of the Concorde story!

Happy 20th birthday

Another 10 years on, we now had thousands of satisfied customers because we knew the most important way to grow our business is by personal recommendation. Approaching the new millennium, we were excited to continue servicing our growing base of customers.

We continued the emphasis on keeping ahead of the curve and not simply being like any other Blind company. Concorde had continued to introduce new products to the market and even created innovative products that were sold locally and also nationally to the trade.

New home

With the changing face of the industry Concorde had made the decision to focus mainly on the retail aspect of the business and closed down various lines of manufacturing, this meant that the existing factory was now too large and a change was needed.

We made the decision to move only 2 doors down from our very well-known location to a more manageable and cosy unit. Lots of our valued customers know where we are, and do not need to go too far to find our new home.

In this time Concorde had also welcomed Julie’s eldest son Liam into the business who came in with lots of valuable experience and took on the task of organising the fitting diaries as well as installing products too.

40 Years Old!

We celebrated our 40th year in business which we are extremely proud of and we will always be committed to the same values of providing the very latest in inspirational designs and delivering our service with the same enthusiasm and friendliness that Peter and Julie always guaranteed.

In the past 5 years Julie’s youngest son Kieren came back into the business to help with day to day organisation and to improve the business processes to ensure Concorde is as efficient as possible, all with a view to improving service for our customers.
